Want To Make It Easier To Keep Your Flower Gardens Watered This Summer? Install An Irrigation System

It is important that your flower gardens get enough water to keep the flowers and plants healthy. If you live in an area that does not get a lot of rain, it can take a lot of time to do this watering on your own. Fortunately, you can install an irrigation system to make things much easier for you. There are different types of irrigation systems to choose from, two of which are listed below.

Drip Irrigation

Drip irrigation is a popular way to keep flower gardens watered. You will also hear this referred to as trickle irrigation. With this irrigation, lines are snaked throughout the garden. These lines have small, perforated holes. When the water is turned on, water trickles out of the holes, supplying the roots of your flowers and plants with water. The irrigation lines are buried deep enough in the soil that the water goes directly to the roots. This prevents water runoff, as if you water from above, it takes a lot for the water to reach the roots.

With drip irrigation, you use much less water when compared to watering the flower gardens in your home. Water does not evaporate when it is below the soil. You will also have fewer weeds in your garden if you use drip irrigation. Weeds need water to grow and supplying water to the roots of your flowers will not give weeds the water they need. This can save you a considerable amount of time.

Sprinkler Irrigation

Another way to irrigate your flower gardens is to use sprinklers. Sprinkles are beneficial if you have one or more large flower gardens as they can cover a wide area. There are inground sprinklers that pop up when the sprinkler is turned on and pop back down to soil level when the sprinkler is turned off. These are connected to the water supply to your home.

Stationary sprinklers are another type you can choose. You can use a variety of spray heads, letting you choose the spray pattern that you want. These work well for smaller flower gardens. If you have one or more flower gardens that are spread apart, you should consider purchasing more than one stationary sprinkler.

You can set both inground and stationary sprinklers to turn on and off at certain times each day. This not only saves you money but allows you to choose how much water you want to use.
